The essence of this is that the inner surface of the bag is equipped with grooves, which makes it easier to pump out air. Once this is done, the machine uses a heating filament to fuse the film and form an insoluble seal. Of course, the vacuum packaging bag can only be dismantled at the cost of destroying the material and cannot be reused again.
However, there are also vacuum bags with valves equipped with a removable smoothing seal, and the air is pumped out through a valve.

These containers are also vented through a valve, while their volume does not change. Such containers are manufactured with a built-in vacuum valve. But we can easily make them ourselves from canning glass or food containers that can be airtightly sealed but do not have a valve.
Venting can be done by connecting a tube to the vacuum packaging machines and an adapter to its other end.
Both types of storage have advantages and disadvantages.
The most significant advantage of the foil solution is that we can remove almost 100% of the air, ensuring the most extended possible preservation. And the biggest disadvantage is that it cannot be used for storing liquids. Or it is challenging because the household vacuum packaging machine cannot handle this.
Glass containers have long been used for food storage. They can be easily sterilised, reused and easily recycled as waste.
On the other hand, plastic film is difficult to decompose and is not environmentally friendly.
Cereals, seeds, beans, poppy seeds, walnuts, hazelnuts etc., should be highlighted separately and possibly stored in a vacuum. We cannot create a complete vacuum around the stored food with these foods, even with the vacuum film. This is because a hollow volume with holes is created due to the fragmentary shape.

On larger, non-contiguous surfaces, the foil does not cover evenly or fit to the surface.
In addition, the interior of the delimiting space cannot be freed from oxygen any more than in the case of the mason jar.

The whole picture includes the fact that all these can be done not only with a machine but also with a manual vacuum pump. Today most of the bags do not require the use of a machine, a simple pump will do. Although propagated as reusable, they are mostly discarded after a few uses.
But think about it, if such a bag costs 2 Euros and can be usefive five times, it will no longer be more expensive than welded foil.

Using the dishes is more convenient, faster and cheaper with the hand pump. Last but not least, you can always have it on hand.
You don't have to take out the machine, plug it in, connect the adapter, and then put everything back in its place after use.
Materials with a closed surface, e.g. the vacuum foil solution, are the most suitable for efficiently storing meat products.
Due to its fast opening and closing, purchase price and operation using vacuum containers with rigid walls is more practical in the kitchen, especially for large, fragmented, spongy, hollow materials and the already mentioned seeds, berries, corn, etc. case.
